Below are details which should be read together with the recent discoveries page to get a full history of the church. Each section is numbered and relates to the buttons in the left hand column. 1 St. Christopher, a wall painting on the North wall, has greeted visitors and wished the departing traveller well for over five hundred years. This wall painting was conserved by the late Miss Anna Hulbert.

2 Next to the Church stands the Plot House, where the terrible treason of the Gunpowder Plot is alleged to have been hatched. This building has now been completely conserved by Viscount Wimborne. It is not, however, open to the public.

3 The Skeleton, depicted as a sexton, is boldly painted on the Tower wall (West) and awaits the skill of the Conservator to bring back to life its companion "Old father Time" on the North side of the Tower wall, which will then make the Momento Mori complete.

4 One of the seven Hatchments, displayed in the Church; this one refers to the Ashley Family who were owners of the Manor in the 18th Century. All hatchments in the Chancel have yet to be rehung following the complete replacement of the Chancel roof.
