With Ashby St Ledgers Church being of such antiquity and with so many historical connections it needs Friends. This international, inter denominational organization was formed over ten years ago. Its aim is to unite in fellowship all those who value this historic Church and to seek by prayer and financial support to maintain and strengthen its life and work.

So far the Friends have concentrated on conserving the medieval plaster and wall paintings both medieval and georgian, which the P.C.C. could not have financed and to date have spent in excess of £50,000. However, to complete this project and to put in hand several other urgent repairs/replacements the Friends and the P.C.C. need to raise a further £140,000.

Join the Friends or make a donation
Please join us and help to preserve this ancient building and its artifacts for future generations to enjoy. The annual fees are small and membership entitles you to receive an annual newsletter and an invitation to the yearly Festival of St. Leodegarius, held annually on the first Saturday in October. This Eucharist celebration is followed by a lunch (provided for a modest fee) followed by a short A.G.M. and a talk by an eminent speaker.

Alternatively you may prefer to just make a donation.

Children's workshops and meet Guy Fawkes
The Friends also hold children’s workshops either side of bonfire night. Around 250 children attend each year. They learn about the Church and its architecture and artifacts, have the Sacrament and Priest regalia explained, enjoy hands on experience of brass rubbing and organ playing.
Guy Fawkes then appears to tell the story of the
Gun Powder Plot 1605.

Conducted tours
By prior arrangement conducted tours can be offered followed, if required, by tea and cakes, or a full meal with wine in the recently renovated thatched Village Hall at competitive prices.

Service times
It must be emphasised however, that this is a living and active church dedicated to spreading Our Lord’s gospel, which is open every day for those seeking spiritual refreshment and comfort. Sung Eucharist is celebrated on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays at 9.15am and a Family Service is held on each 4th Sunday at 4.00pm. On Wednesday at 4.30pm Prayer in the Evening is held.

At all these times a warm welcome is guaranteed and the Revd. Claire Rose-Casemore (01788 890235) will always lend a sympathetic ear for those in need.
