From the Reverend Claire Rose-Casemore
Dear friends,
It is going to take quite a lot to confine all that I want to tell you in this small space on the newsletter! Firstly, a ‘huge thank you’ to the Churchwardens, members of the congregation, Team Clergy and Readers for keeping things going in Ashby during my Sabbatical. I spent a month in Uganda- returning to a country where I was teaching 20 years ago. It was wonderful seeing old friends again- and also spending time at the Church which is very vital and alive. I went on from here to Australia and again talked to Christians about their experience of living in Australia and I took the opportunity of attending Churches with different styles of worship. The whole time gave me an insight into the worldwide church- how we are all doing our best to remain relevant and faithful to Christ in today’s world. I also spent some time in retreat- particularly exploring Franciscan spirituality. If you would like to see and hear more about the trip- you are very welcome to come to a Fish and Chip Supper on August 14th at Braunston Village please could you contact me (01788 890235) before 7th August.
Whilst on Sabbatical I felt increasingly, that having spent nine years in Braunston and four in Ashby, it is probably time to think about moving on. In the light of this I went to Bideford (North Devon) to find out about the job of Priest in Charge of St Mary’s and four villages- and was accepted for the post. I am sorry that this has happened all so quickly- but feel that God was very much in the decision. I also know that God will look after you all in Ashby and in time provide the right person to succeed me. It has been a wonderful privilege to be part of this community for 4 years and I will continue to serve here to the best of my ability until the end of October. My last Service will be on All Saints Day- 31st October- at All Saints’ Church Braunston. Please come to the Service at 11am if you can and stay for the meal in the Village Hall afterwards! I am also having an ‘Open House’ at Braunston Rectory on Sunday 5th September at 12.30pm- to which you are warmly invited. I hope you all have a very restful and happy Summer holiday.
God bless,
Revd Claire
