Dear Friends in Ashby,
I expect that all households are, like mine, feverish with preparations for Christmas. It is a wonderful time but certainly not for the faint-hearted!
Amongst all the sparkle and wrapping of Christmas, it is easy to overlook what we are in fact celebrating. Have a wonderful Christmas this year, but please don’t leave the CHRIST out of Christmas. Indeed we invite you to ‘come and worship Christ the Lord!’ with us - sing songs to God of thanks for His gift to us: the gift of His Son. For, as we have been told, ‘love came down at Christmas’.
Read on to see what services are coming up over the Christmas season, and I wish you all a very peaceful and joyful Christmas!

From the Parochial Church Council:
There are many wonderful festive events taking place in the village over the Christmas period and we very much hope you will join us to celebrate this magical time of year together.
The Carol Service will be on Sunday 20 December at 5pm, following the children’s Christmas party in the Village Hall and on Christmas Eve there will be the Crib Service, including the village children’s performance of the nativity story, at 2pm and a wonderfully atmospheric candlelit Midnight Mass at 11pm. There will be homemade mince pies and warm fragrant mulled wine in church prior to all these services.
We very much hope to welcome you and your friends and family at these services. The Ashby PCC would like to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous new year.
