From Reverend Claire Rose-Casemore:
One morning recently, on my early morning walk with the dog, I noticed the combine harvesters were out in force. This year the fields are looking more healthy than last and the garden has produced abundant crops of beans, courgettes, onions and tomatoes. The combination of rain and sun this summer has contributed to what we all hope will be a good harvest.
Living somewhere like Ashby, you are probably more aware than most of the hard work and dedication of all those who work tirelessly on the land. No doubt a huge cheer will go up when the harvest is brought home!
It has always been and, hopefully, will continue to be that way. In celebration we are holding a Harvest Festival service on Sunday 27 September at 4pm. Please do join us if you are able. It will be a service for all ages; as well as singing our favourite hymns, there will be activities for the children. Please would you bring produce and donations to offer at this service. The food will be given to the Mayday Centre in Daventry (for people who have had a struggle in life) and money donations will go to Farm Crisis Network, which helps farmers who have fallen on hard times. Thank you in advance for your generosity. I hope to see you there!
God bless, Revd Claire
Congratulations:
to Richard & Kate and Henry & Nova, who are getting married at Ashby in September. Congratulations also to the Broomfield family on their wedding blessing and baptisms.
